County of Storey recently issued the following announcement.

In cooperation with neighboring counties, Storey County has deployed staff, equipment and other resources to assist with the #CaldorFire. Evacuation centers, including indoor spaces and temporary RV staging locations, are being evaluated and prepared in Virginia City and TRI Center in case of overflow needs from regional centers. At this time, Storey County does not anticipate large numbers of evacuees. The county currently has sufficient resources and trained volunteers to meet anticipated needs.

Residents who have questions about assisting in regional efforts should contact Emergency Management and Community Relations at 775-432-4081. However, no donations or assistance is needed from local residents at this time. This response effort should have little to no impact to Storey County residents and businesses, including planned Virginia City events and scheduled COVID-19 vaccination and testing centers.

Updates will be provided daily or for significant changes in events.
