CARSON CITY: Carson City Seeking Applicants for Hearing Officer

Carson City issued the following announcement on July 14.

The hearing officer must have training in administrative law, or equivalent experience, sufficient to enable the officer to conduct fair and lawful hearings.  This is a contract position appointed by the Board of Supervisors.  Compensation will be based on credentials. 

Carson City’s Nuisance Ordinance addresses dangerous structures, litter, weeds, dry grass, abandoned vehicles and more. When Code Enforcement officers observe these conditions, a notice of violation is issued, before the notice of violation is recorded, a property owner may request an administrative hearing.

An administrative hearing is conducted by the hearing officer, who will review the substantive and procedural matters of the case, at that time, may affirm the Code Enforcement officer’s decision or find it is improper and invalidate it.
