6

Carson City School District recently issued the following announcement.

With the scheduled retirement of Superintendent Richard Stokes, set for June 2022, the Carson City School District and the Board of Trustees are reaching out to parents, families, staff and community members to provide essential feedback in a survey to help determine the most desirable characteristics in their search for the new, incoming superintendent.

Some examples of characteristics include the following.

Personal integrity

Educational expertise

Exceptional communication skills

News media interview experience

Team-mindedness

Fiscally focused

Values technology

Business/budget skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Instructional skills

Good skills working with the board

Focused on student achievement

Good skills in working with staff

Good skills in working with patrons

“Although there are common characteristics that each community desires, there are frequently board and community-specific characteristics that will separate specific candidates from others during the screening process,” said Carson City School Board President Joe Cacioppo. “Collecting data from this survey will assist us and our screening team in identifying these unique and desirable characteristics as we evaluate each candidate.”

Available in English or Spanish, the survey may be completed using a desktop computer or mobile device. Participation in the survey is voluntary and responses will remain anonymous.

Hosted by the Nevada Association of School Boards’ (NASB) Superintendent Search Service, the online survey is open from Oct. 27 through Nov. 5, 2021. Access the survey by clicking here. Community feedback is valuable, and the Carson City School District hopes that families will take a few moments to participate.
