The Carson City Clerk-Recorder is accepting applications for appointment on two committees to draft arguments for and against a local ballot question to be placed on the November 8, 2022, General Election ballot.
Carson City, NV., Code of Ordinances, Title 21 (2020) provides for an excise tax of five cents ($0.05) per gallon on diesel fuel sold in Carson City. This excise tax is for the sole purpose of construction, maintenance, or repair of public highways, roads, streets and alleys, other than those maintained by the federal government and the State of Nevada. This excise tax expires by limitation on December 31, 2022, unless at a general election before December 31, 2022, the majority of the registered voters of Carson City vote upon a question on a ballot to continue the imposition of the tax.
Interested individuals may visit the Carson City Clerk-Recorder’s website at carson.org/elections to download a Ballot Question Committee Interest Form and packet. Individuals may also visit the Carson City Clerk-Recorder’s Office at 885 E. Musser St., Ste. 1025 to pick up a Ballot Question Committee Interest Form and packet.
All applications must be received by the Carson City Clerk-Recorder’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m., March 30, 2022. On April 7, 2022, the Carson City Clerk-Recorder will submit recommendations to the Carson City Board of Supervisors for appointment consideration.
