October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Mayor Roy Edgington and Councilwoman Fran McKay and Councilman Ray Lacy attended the Lyon County Domestic Violence Intervention T-Shirt Display event on Friday, Sept. 30th to kick off October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The event took place at the City Clock micro-plaza on the corner of Silver Lace and Main Street where t-shirts were hung to bring awareness to domestic violence.

“I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the survivors,” Mayor Edgington said, “Your strength to take steps to become a survivor after the victimization and the suffering you have experienced is admirable. The fact that you have not only chosen to survive, but to thrive despite what you have experienced is exceptional. Stay strong!”

Lyon County Domestic Violence Intervention (DVI), Inc. is a community-based, non-profit organization that focuses on helping adult victims of domestic violence.
