The final 2022 events for Jack C. Davis Observatory at Western Nevada College are set for this weekend.
The premier facility in Northern Nevada to get up close and personal with the moon, stars and planets is hosting two Mike Thomas lectures and a Star Party.
Thomas, who lectures extensively in Northern Nevada, will talk about Wyatt Earp on Friday night, providing the true story of the legendary lawman of the old west. Then, on Saturday night, Thomas will provide a presentation on Atlantis, the story of a lost, highly advanced culture.
Both presentations are free and begin at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Following Thomas’ Saturday night talk on Atlantis, the final Star Party of 2022 is scheduled. The Western Nevada Astronomical Society presents the weekly Star Party, which brings together people with an interest in astronomy. Newcomers are always welcome to learn more about the wonders of space from volunteers and JCDO Director Dr. Thomas Herring.
Jack C. Davis Observatory is located at 2269 Vanpatten Ave., on the northern end of WNC’s Carson City campus. WNC will celebrate the observatory’s 20th anniversary in 2023.
