Agenda Items 11 to 14 – Centennial Awards: City Council approved the following awards approved by the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial:
- $277,640 for a film highlighting the history of Black Las Vegas and the Historic Westside
- $200,000 for Duck Duck Shed
- $200,000 for the Las Vegas Days Rodeo
- $259,005 for a film highlighting the history of Helldorado Days
Agenda Item 20 – Mobile Classrooms: City Council approved a contract with Matthews Specialty Vehicles for two (2) additional mobile classrooms to expand and support the city’s Strong Start initiative, which advocates for and brings awareness to the importance of early childhood education from birth to age 8 and supports school readiness and grade level reading. These specialty units will serve children from ages 3 to 5, for the city’s Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K Academy, to help ensure the attendees will enter kindergarten ready to learn. Matthews Specialty Vehicles was selected through a competitive request for proposals process and is located in Greensboro, North Carolina.Learn more about Strong Start GO!
Agenda Item 22 – Specialty Courts Grant: City Council approved an agreement with Clark County for $115,904 of the FFY2020 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program to be allocated to the city’s Municipal Court Specialty Court programs. Learn more about these programs.
Agenda Item 39 – West Las Vegas Library: City Council approved project request for a two-story, 40,430-square foot library on the west side of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Mount Mariah Drive.
