Census Bureau: 12% of people in Storey County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 4,047 citizens living in Storey County in 2021, 88% said they were only one race, while 12% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Storey County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 84.1% or 3,402 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 2.4% and totaled 98 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Storey County is 1.7% higher than the state average, which stands at 10.3%.
