There were 9,057 students enrolled in Lyon County School District in the 2023-24 school year, 0% more than the previous year, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.7% of them were boys, 48.2% were girls, and 0.1% identified themselves as non-binary or did not specify their gender.

Data also showed that the majority of students were white, making up 58.2% of the Lyon County School District's total enrollment.

Lyon County School District roughly covers 19 schools within Lyon Countyand has a main office in Yerington.

Among the 19 schools in the district, Fernley High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,321 students in the 2023-24 school year.

Enrollment in Nevada has experienced a notable decline, falling nearly 3.5% since the 2019-20 school year.

Although Nevada has seen some significant relief in chronic absenteeism since the pandemic, numbers are still high. In the 2023-24 school year, the state reported an improvement of roughly 10% in the number of chronically absent students. However, more than a quarter of students (25.9%) were chronically absent from classes. This mirrors a national trend, with estimates suggesting the number of chronically absent students in the U.S. has grown to over 16 million compared to pre-pandemic data.
