Fernley High School had the highest enrollment among Lyon County schools, welcoming 1,321 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

Of all the students enrolled, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.4% were girls.

Data also showed that the majority of students were white, making up 55.3% of Fernley High School's total enrollment.

Among the 19 schools in Lyon County, Dayton High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 756 students, while Fernley Intermediate School welcomed 669 students and ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Fernley High School is part of Lyon County School District, which roughly covers schools within Lyon County and has a main office in Yerington.

In the previous school year, Fernley High School also had the highest number of students among Lyon County schools.

Despite a significant drop in chronic absenteeism, Nevada’s numbers are still high. In the 2023-24 school year, the state reported that over a quarter of students were chronically absent from classes, above the 18.8% rate registered in the 2018-19 school year.
