Virginia City High School in Storey County welcomed most students in 2023-24 school year

Virginia City High School had the highest enrollment among Storey County schools, welcoming 129 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

Of all the students enrolled, 51.9% of them were boys, and 48.1% were girls.

Data also showed that the majority of students were white, making up 77.5% of Virginia City High School's total enrollment.

Among the four schools in Storey County, Hugh Gallagher Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 126 students, while Virginia City Middle School welcomed 102 students and ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Virginia City High School is part of Storey County School District, which roughly covers schools within Storey County and has a main office in Virginia City.

In the previous school year, Virginia City High School also had the highest number of students among Storey County schools.

Nevada's educational system ranked third-lowest in the U.S. for educational quality, student outcomes, and overall school safety, only ahead of Louisiana and Arizona, according to an analysis from the World Population Review.
