Douglas County Education: Which school had most students enrolled in 2022-23 school year?

Douglas High School had the highest enrollment among Douglas County schools, welcoming 1,643 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.5% of them were boys, and 45.5% were girls.

Data also showed that the majority of students were white, making up 66.2% of Douglas High School's total enrollment.

Among the 14 schools in Douglas County, Carson Valley Middle School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 593 students, while Pau Wa Lu Middle School welcomed 481 students and ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Douglas High School is part of Douglas County School District, which roughly covers schools within Douglas County and has a main office in Minden.

In the previous school year, Douglas High School also had the highest number of students among Douglas County schools.

Meanwhile, chronic absenteeism has become a significant issue in Nevada since the pandemic. In the 2022-23 school year, the state reported that more than a third of students (34.9%) were chronically absent from classes, nearly double the rate from 2018-19 (18.8%). This mirrors a national trend, with estimates suggesting the number of chronically absent students in the U.S. has grown to over 16 million compared to pre-pandemic data.

Currently, Nevada has roughly one teacher for every 22 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
