Lyon County School District: 85.3% of students failed their science CRT during 2023-24 school year

Of the 701 Lyon County School District students who took part in the Criterion Referenced Test (CRT) in the 2023-24 school year, 85.3% did not meet science benchmarks, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

This is 5.5% above the statewide average of 79.8%.

Lyon County School District roughly covers schools within Lyon County and has a main office in Yerington.

The number of students who failed to meet expectations in the subject rose by 4.9% the previous school year.

In Lyon County School District, most of the students who fell below proficiency were at the lowest performance level.

Throughout the district, Dayton High School had the highest percentage of students scoring below science benchmarks on their CRT.

Criterion-Referenced Tests (CRTs) are used to evaluate students' proficiency in science, measuring their performance against state academic standards.

Nevada's educational system ranked third-lowest in the U.S. for educational quality, student outcomes, and overall school safety, only ahead of Louisiana and Arizona, according to an analysis from the World Population Review.
